a web-based, membership-gated adult content marketplace built on the Solana blockchain.
Proof of Peach (POP) is a membership-gated adult content marketplace built on the Solana blockchain. POP's mission is to create a digital experience that improves the working conditions of individuals in the sex industry, while also promoting healthier consumption habits of adult content among the general public.
Sex workers(SW) face a range of challenges in both the physical and digital worlds, including marginalization and criminalization. Unfortunately, there are not many digital products that offer safe, secure, and reliable solutions that directly address the needs of SW. POP specifically designed to empower SW by providing them with the digital tools they need to generate a living independently and autonomously, without the risks associated with traditional adult content platforms. With POP, SW can have greater control over their work and safety, and can work towards a more equitable future for themselves.
Proof of Peach hired me as a solo designer to build their MVP. Although nothing had been built when I joined, there was already detailed user research, competitor research, brand messaging guidelines, and user interviews for me to work from. Additionally, I have access to a Discord community of one POP creator, which provides additional research and customer insights.
Proof of Peach initially focuses on the adult industry due to Crass Kitty's in-depth knowledge and experience in that landscape. One goal is to eventually build one of the most powerful web3 content creation tools that any industry can use. For Proof of Peach, there are two sides to the product: the audience-facing side and the creator-facing side. We chose to focus first on the creator-facing side and take care of the creators because they are the real driving force that brings in more users.

Understanding the digital landscape of the sex industry.
I had access to user research, user interviews and feedback, user personas, and information about the POP user base – their needs, desires, concerns about current platforms they're using, and their expectations for the new platform. I discussed with the team and asked lots of questions to get a better understanding of the landscape.
These are some of the key issues that sex workers face in the digital landscape and the solutions they need:
● Censorship, shadow bans, outright bans, and account deletions from various digital platforms = They need a trusted platform and team that fully support sex work from the get-go.
● Other platforms don't encourage creators to support each other = They need a tool that creates opportunities for collaboration.
● Payment censorship from traditional finance companies, although the payment is consensual from their customers = They need an honest, transparent, and fast payment processor. For this, the founding team chose to utilize the Solana blockchain.
● Lack of ownership of their content and risk of content reposting = They need a gated platform that values safety and ensures they know who purchases their content.
● Children gaining access to pornographic material due to lack of login oversight from current adult platforms = They need an age-gated platform.
I am aware that there are many more issues that sex workers face, but for this particular MVP, the team decided that these are the most important issues to address.
Translating insights into sitemap.
After synthesizing the initial insights, along with the feature analysis and requirements given to me, I created the MVP site map. Due to the adult nature of the product, I consulted with the company's legal team to ensure regulatory compliance and that all necessary disclaimers and disclosures were put in place.
Beginning to design
Next, I began crafting low-fidelity wireframes and user flows to combine a marketplace with social media for a fun and engaging shopping and content-consuming experience. I kept in mind that it needed to be convenient for creators to offer and upsell their content.
Onboarding
The company's goal was to onboard both crypto-native and non-crypto-native audiences, so it was crucial that non-crypto-native audiences felt comfortable downloading a crypto wallet. It was also essential that our audiences were comfortable with age verification, as the process required users to upload their ID card to confirm their age. While none of the user's information would be stored, other than the confirmation that the user is over 18 years old, the preconceived notion is often, "They are storing my information." To address this concern, we used concise language and lighthearted design to give users peace of mind.
personalized instruction for two kinds of audiences.
For this part of the process, I had a logo and brand guideline to work with. The brand guideline includes the brand vision, personality, voice, and value.
"Brand Voice & Tone Characteristics: Playful & self-assured Punchy & vibrant Down-to-earth & approachable Honest & trustworthy Intentionally whimsical & unexpectedly seductive "
Although this is an adult product, the team is looking for a playful and clean aesthetic, combined with peach-themed puns. I presented the idea of utilizing cutesy graphic art, including girls and guys of different colors and sizes, signaling diversity and inclusiveness. My understanding of the millennial and early Gen Z Web3 clientele, who might enjoy this aesthetic, also pushed me in this direction. The idea was well received, and we decided to go with this design direction.
MVP successfully launched end of last year with over 1000 unique wallets sign-up. There no proper product testing done prior to the launch, so I used the launch as the opportunity to get product feedback from users and creators. Those feedback become the fuel for v2 iteration. More of that coming soon...
Based on my experience working on Proof of Peach, I have learned that designing an ethical adult product requires extra care and attention. Despite the challenges and stigma associated with the industry, I am proud to have been a part of creating a platform that supports sex workers and prioritizes their safety and ownership of their content. As with any project, there are always areas for improvement, and I believe that with additional resources and time, we could have conducted more rigorous testing and further gamified certain features to enhance the user experience.
To be continue....
